LifeOS Pro / DeepAsk Updates After December 2024

After the December 2024 update, the Obsidian LifeOS line kept moving in two directions: a steadier core experience, and paid capabilities for tasks, templates, activation, and AI workflows. This summary is assembled from the LifeOS Pro changelog and the DeepAsk changelog.

Free / Core Experience

  • Easier example vaults: example-vault templates moved to built-in template syntax and no longer depend on Dataview / Templater by default.
  • More reliable periodic notes: fixed weekly-note week numbers, Chinese weekday display, custom periodic-note paths, *.README.md project-index detection, and LifeOS code block rendering.
  • More stable daily-record sync: added Memos 0.28 compatibility so daily-record sync works better with newer Memos versions.
  • Large-vault improvements: improved startup, search, and context loading, especially when several LifeOS plugins are enabled together.
  • Settings stability: fixed dropdown positioning, active-tab highlights, duplicate borders, and possible blank screens in Obsidian detached settings windows.
  • Device management: settings can show device usage, refresh the device list, and unbind unused devices.
  • Manual updates: added a beta / manual update entry for cases where automatic update fails.
  • Task planning improvements: added default task start dates, task deferral settings, and kanban tag-column sorting by task count, alphabetical order, or manual drag.
  • Custom task states are more complete: Markdown tasks, custom checkbox states, task timestamps, indented subtasks, and editor checkbox clicks now follow LifeOS status-cycle logic more consistently.
  • Task previews and date editing improved: task cards in calendar, task lists, and advanced lists preserve richer child-task and date context.
  • Template improvements: added template-variable guidance, theme snapshots in templates, and better {{snapshot:Project}} recognition for project index files.
  • LifeOS Skill updates: the bundled LifeOS Skill now follows the newer AI Wiki guidance, including the .AI.md topic-maintenance flow; the CLI also added lifeos skill install.
  • Multi-model configuration: added Anthropic configuration while keeping OpenAI-compatible services; the same model service can save different connection modes.
  • Local coding-agent modes: Claude Code CLI and Codex CLI can process the current Obsidian vault context from the local machine.
  • Tool calling for regular models: regular AI model chat can use Skills and MCP tools, read vault / user skills, and call embedded LifeOS MCP tools.
  • Finer permissions: write / update permission is separated from delete permission, while external Skills and external MCP tools stay off by default.
  • Central AI connection settings: the AI Connection tab now gathers DeepAsk HTTP Server, LifeOS Skill install / update, and MCP-related entries.
  • More accurate daily-note lookup: embedded MCP periodic-note tools now honor Obsidian Daily Notes core folder and format settings.

Stability and Compatibility

  • More reliable activation state: fixed cross-plugin authentication-context pollution when several LifeOS plugins are enabled together.
  • More complete DeepAsk packaging: the chat panel and desktop Koa server were bundled back into the main plugin file to avoid missing-runtime update failures.
  • Codex CLI response fix: fixed DeepAsk Codex CLI responses stopping after the first partial segment.
  • React / antd compatibility: fixed settings blank screens, Invalid hook call crashes, and dropdown issues caused by duplicated React / antd copies.
